Welcome to Labuta Laureada. These Terms & Conditions apply to bookings, stays, volunteering, courses, workshops, equicoaching, studio hire, events, products and other experiences provided or organised by Labuta Laureada.

By making a booking, purchasing a product, participating in an activity or using our website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About Labuta Laureada

Labuta Laureada is a rural, creative and sustainable project based in the Serra da Estrela region of Portugal. Our activities include rural accommodation, volunteering, retreats, workshops, equicoaching, music production, studio hire, live events, sustainable products and other activities developed from time to time.

Labuta Laureada is a working rural environment rather than a conventional hotel or resort. The property includes animals, uneven ground, natural areas, agricultural activity, workshops, equipment and other features associated with rural life.

We ask all guests, volunteers, participants and visitors to respect the land, animals, people and other guests who share the space.

2. Bookings & Reservations

Bookings for accommodation, courses, workshops, equicoaching, studio hire and events are subject to availability.

A booking is confirmed only when we have received any required deposit or payment and have confirmed the booking in writing.

Prices, inclusions, dates and booking conditions will be communicated at the time of booking and may vary according to the type of service or experience.

We reserve the right to decline a booking where we reasonably believe that the proposed use of the property is unsuitable, unsafe or inconsistent with the nature of Labuta Laureada.

3. Accommodation

Our accommodation may include boutique rooms, double rooms, rooms with balconies, single rooms, bell tents, handcrafted bamboo structures, camping areas and campervan spaces.

Accommodation types, facilities and services vary between locations and booking categories. Specific facilities included with a particular booking will be described at the time of reservation.

Guests are expected to treat rooms, tents, bamboo structures, equipment and communal areas with care.

Check-in and check-out times will be provided with your booking. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible by prior agreement but cannot be guaranteed.

Guests are responsible for any damage caused to accommodation or property beyond reasonable wear and tear.

4. Rural Environment & Safety

Labuta Laureada is situated in a rural environment. The property may include uneven terrain, slopes, rocks, vegetation, water features, animals, agricultural equipment, outdoor structures and changing weather conditions.

Guests and visitors must take reasonable care of themselves and follow any safety instructions given by Labuta Laureada.

Children must remain under the appropriate supervision of their accompanying adults at all times.

Guests should inform us before arrival of any relevant accessibility requirements so that we can discuss whether our facilities are suitable.

5. Animals & Horses

Animals are an integral part of Labuta Laureada. Horses, dogs, goats, cats and other animals may be present on the property.

Animals can behave unpredictably. Guests and participants must not enter animal areas, feed animals or interact with them unless specifically invited or instructed to do so.

Participation in activities involving animals is undertaken at the participant’s own responsibility and subject to the instructions of our staff and coaches.

6. Equicoaching

Equicoaching sessions are provided as personal development and experiential learning activities.

No previous horse-riding experience is required, and equicoaching generally takes place from the ground rather than on horseback.

Participants must follow the instructions of our experienced coach at all times.

Equicoaching is not a substitute for medical, psychological, psychiatric or other professional healthcare or treatment. Participants should seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.

We reserve the right to postpone or cancel a session where weather, horse welfare, participant safety or other circumstances make the activity unsuitable.

7. Volunteering

Labuta Laureada offers volunteer opportunities through our partnership with Worldpackers and potentially through other arrangements agreed directly with us.

Volunteer placements are based on an exchange of time, skills and experience. The exact activities, accommodation arrangements, expected hours and benefits will be communicated through the relevant volunteer programme or booking.

Volunteers may be asked to assist with animal care, gardening, maintenance, land work, cleaning, sustainable projects, bamboo work, events, creative activities or other rural tasks.

Volunteering takes place in a working rural environment and may involve physical activity.

Volunteers must follow reasonable instructions relating to safety, animal welfare, property and other people.

We reserve the right to end a volunteer placement where a volunteer repeatedly fails to respect the agreed arrangements, behaves in an unsafe or abusive manner, damages property, mistreats animals or seriously disrupts the community.

Where a placement is arranged through Worldpackers, the relevant Worldpackers terms and booking conditions may also apply.

8. Retreats, Courses & Workshops

Labuta Laureada may offer residential and non-residential courses, retreats, workshops and creative programmes, including music production, rural skills, sustainable crafts, equicoaching and other activities.

Course content, schedules and accommodation arrangements may change where reasonably necessary due to weather, availability, safety, animal welfare, technical requirements or other circumstances.

Participants are responsible for bringing any equipment specifically requested for their course.

For music production workshops, participants may be required to bring their own laptop, software, headphones or other equipment unless otherwise agreed.

Participation in workshops does not guarantee any particular creative, professional, educational or commercial outcome.

9. Music Studio Hire

Our music studio may be available for hire by musicians, producers, artists and other creative practitioners.

Studio users must treat all equipment and facilities with care and follow any operating instructions provided.

Any damage caused through misuse, negligence or unauthorised modification may be charged to the person responsible.

Studio hire does not automatically include engineering, production, mixing, mastering, accommodation or other services unless specifically agreed.

Additional services provided by Labuta Laureada or our associated artists or producers will be subject to separate agreement and pricing.

10. Live Events

Labuta Laureada may host live music, cultural events, workshops, community gatherings and other activities at the house and surrounding land.

Event dates, line-ups, schedules, locations and activities may change due to circumstances beyond our control, including weather, safety considerations, artist availability, licensing requirements or other operational matters.

Event attendees must follow instructions from organisers and staff.

We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove an attendee where their behaviour presents a safety risk, causes serious disruption, damages property or negatively affects other participants.

11. Weather & Outdoor Activities

Many Labuta Laureada activities take place outdoors.

Weather conditions may affect accommodation, events, equicoaching, volunteering and other activities. Where an activity must be postponed, cancelled or changed for safety reasons, we will communicate the available options as soon as reasonably possible.

We cannot guarantee particular weather conditions or outdoor experiences.

12. Cancellation & Changes

Cancellation policies may vary depending on the service booked.

The cancellation terms applicable to your booking will be communicated at the time of booking and may include specific deposit, refund or notice requirements.

Where no specific cancellation policy has been agreed, reasonable notice should be provided for cancellations or changes.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes where availability permits but cannot guarantee that changes will be possible.

If Labuta Laureada needs to cancel a booking, we will communicate this as soon as reasonably possible and, where appropriate, offer an alternative date, alternative arrangement or refund in accordance with the applicable booking terms and Portuguese law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude any mandatory consumer rights.

13. Payments

Payments may be made using the payment methods offered at the time of booking.

Prices are stated in euros unless otherwise specified.

Any applicable taxes or charges will be communicated as required by law.

Bookings are not considered confirmed until any required payment or deposit has been received.

14. Sustainable Products

Labuta Laureada may sell handmade and sustainable products including bamboo homewares, jewellery and other items produced by us or in collaboration with makers.

Because many products are handmade, natural variations in colour, texture, shape and finish may occur. These characteristics are part of the nature of handmade products and should not necessarily be considered defects.

Product descriptions and photographs are intended to provide a reasonable representation but may not reproduce the exact appearance of every individual item.

Consumer rights relating to defective or non-conforming products remain unaffected.

15. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, photographs, videos, text, logos, artwork, graphics, music and other materials published on the Labuta Laureada website are owned by or licensed to Labuta Laureada or the relevant creator.

They may not be reproduced, distributed or commercially used without prior permission.

Artists, musicians, photographers, workshop leaders and other contributors retain ownership of their own creative work unless a separate agreement states otherwise.

16. Photography & Events

Photography and video may take place during events, workshops and activities at Labuta Laureada.

Where photography or filming is intended for promotional purposes, we will make reasonable efforts to inform participants where appropriate and obtain any permissions required by applicable law.

Anyone who does not wish to appear in promotional photography should notify the organisers.

17. Personal Belongings

Guests, volunteers and participants are responsible for their own personal belongings.

Labuta Laureada is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Guests bringing valuable equipment, including musical instruments, computers, cameras or other professional equipment, should take appropriate precautions and insurance.

18. Alcohol & Responsible Behaviour

Alcohol may be available at certain events or gatherings, subject to applicable licensing requirements.

Responsible behaviour is expected at all times.

Illegal drug use, threatening behaviour, harassment, violence, discrimination or behaviour that creates a risk to people, animals or property will not be tolerated.

19. Children & Vulnerable Persons

Children and vulnerable persons remain the responsibility of their accompanying parent, guardian or responsible adult unless a specific supervised programme has been agreed.

Certain activities may have minimum age or participation requirements.

Please check with us before booking if you are travelling with children or require specific arrangements.

20. Accessibility

We want Labuta Laureada to be as welcoming and accessible as possible. However, because the property is a rural site with historic buildings, slopes, uneven terrain and outdoor areas, some facilities may not be suitable for every visitor.

Please contact us before booking to discuss specific accessibility requirements.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide accurate information and identify suitable arrangements wherever possible.

21. Respect for the Community & Environment

Everyone visiting Labuta Laureada is expected to respect:

• the natural environment;
• local residents and the surrounding community;
• other guests and volunteers;
• our animals and their welfare;
• staff, artists, teachers and collaborators;
• the property and its facilities.

We encourage guests to minimise waste, conserve water and energy, avoid unnecessary plastic and leave the countryside as they found it — or better.

22. Photography, Music & Creative Work

Labuta Laureada is a creative environment. Guests may encounter musicians, artists, photographers, filmmakers and other creative practitioners during their stay.

Recording or photographing another person, private conversation, performance or creative work for commercial purposes requires appropriate permission.

Artists using our facilities remain responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions for any music, recordings, images or other material they bring to the property.

23. Website Information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information published on our website is accurate and current.

Because Labuta Laureada is an evolving project, activities, facilities, accommodation, schedules and services may change.

Website photographs may represent the general character of the property and may not always depict the exact room, tent, structure or facilities included in a particular booking.

24. External Services & Platforms

Some Labuta Laureada services may be booked or promoted through third-party platforms, including Worldpackers and other booking, payment or ticketing providers.

Where a booking is made through a third-party platform, that platform’s own terms and conditions may also apply.

In the event of a conflict, mandatory consumer rights and applicable law will prevail.

25. Liability

We take reasonable steps to provide a safe and enjoyable environment. However, participation in rural, outdoor, animal-based, musical and creative activities carries inherent risks.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Participants remain responsible for behaving reasonably, following safety instructions and informing us of relevant circumstances that may affect their ability to safely participate.

26. Insurance

Participants and visitors are encouraged to obtain appropriate travel, personal accident, health, cancellation and equipment insurance according to their circumstances and the activities they intend to undertake.

Certain events, activities or professional services may have additional insurance requirements.

27. Privacy

Personal information provided to Labuta Laureada will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy legislation.

Information may be used to process bookings, communicate with guests and participants, provide services, manage volunteer placements, process payments and meet legal obligations.

28. Complaints & Feedback

We genuinely value feedback and encourage guests, volunteers and participants to speak to us as soon as possible if something is not as expected.

We will make reasonable efforts to resolve concerns fairly and promptly.

We also welcome positive and constructive feedback because Labuta Laureada is an evolving project and we are continually learning.

29. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Portugal.

Any disputes will be dealt with in accordance with applicable Portuguese law and the mandatory jurisdictional and consumer-protection rules that apply to the particular situation.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects rights that consumers have under mandatory applicable legislation.
